I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow and Assistant Researcher at Center of Linguistics, University of Lisbon (CLUL), Portugal.
I received my Ph.D. in Translation and Language Science (2021) from the University Pompeu Fabra, Spain. After that, I worked as a Post-doc Fellow in Psycholinguistics (2022-23) at the University of Oslo (UiO), Norway. Then, I was granted a Juan de la Cierva fellowship (2024-25) by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) and worked at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language (BCBL), Spain. Before moving to Europe, I was a Lecturer of Japanese Studies (2013-17) at Hefei University (China).
My research lies at the intersection of speech and cognition, and falls into four lines:
Embodied and multimodal learning
Within the framework of embodied cognition, I study whether hand gestures, tactile and audiovisual cues that represent phonetic features affect the perception and production of new sounds and prosody.
Individual differences in cognitive abilities
I examine how auditory acuity, musical abilities and working memory relate to L2 speech perception and production.
Language experience and speech representations
I study how language use, input and orthography shape phonetic categories and cue weighting over time, in L2 learners and bilinguals.
Prosody, meaning and communication
I study how prosody encodes meaning, such as bias in questions, and how speakers adapt their speech and gesture to non-native listeners.
